Accidentally said "Love you!" at the end of a call with an important client yesterday. I heard him giggle as I hung up, and I was mortified. Today, I saw he emailed me this:

3:05 ← "Love you!" Trash T :27 PM to me ✔ @ ↑ 879 ↑ Hey Just wanted to say that I didn't mean to laugh at you when you accidentally signed off on our call with a "love you." I just found it funny because I've definitely done that before, and I know it happens. I'm glad you have enough love in your life that that response comes naturally. If anything, you should be proud of that :) Have a great weekend! We'll follow up about my call with Chris on Wednesday, as discussed.

Lollipoop_Hacksaw You took it as anyone should thankfully, but in this day and age that is a risky e-mail to send professionally. An advantageous person could twist that into an HR complaint real quick and just make a mess of things.

You both seem awesome, just saying that people have their guards up these days for a reason, and it is sad because people should be able to express themselves this freely and confidently.

Butterscotch Buttons OP He's the client, and he's about to buy about $300k worth of product from me. He can pretty much say whatever the f he wants lol

Moist-Leggings There was a big ol lady plumber on one of my jobs, she was rough looking and she knew it and was clearly very secure with herself. If you happened to hold a door for her, or help her with something she

would just look you straight in the eye and say "Thank you, I love you." Then she would just stare at you until you made an uncomfortable gesture or were like "Uh..." Then she would laugh her a off and walk away. It was an instant job site classic.

ButterscotchButtons OP It's been a running joke I use all the time actually. When I used to work in an office especially -- they'd have a birthday card making its way around for everyone to sign for the CEO, and I'd tell my coworkers I was going to sign it "Happy birthday Melissa, I love you," stuff like that. A poorly placed "I love you" can be pretty hilarious, if it's on purpose lol
